IASIS MicroCurrent Neurofeedback

What happens during an IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback session?

In an IASIS Microcurrent Neurofeedback session, small electrodes are applied to the patient's head to reflect their brainwaves and deliver tiny microcurrent electrical impulses that will calm the central nervous system, stimulate the brain, and improve brain function. This is an entirely pain-free and non-invasive treatment with no negative side effects. It does not require a conscious effort from you to work, all you have to do is let the electrodes do the work for you!

What to expect?

Before your session:

You should receive an email with a link to access all of the intake paperwork, as well as our cognitive brain test, to complete before your first session. Make sure you are hydrated and have eaten something before arriving to your appointment. Make-up is fine, but will be removed in a few places to attach electrodes--this usually just requires a touch-up afterward.

During your session:

The initial session will require additional time to complete a 30-minute brain health test and interview. The IASIS portion will take 30 minutes in total with the initial session lasting an hour. For every reccurring session, expect a 30 minute session to reassess and receive a treatment.

While seated, five lightweight EEG electrodes will be placed on your head and neck. The areas will be cleaned and then a conductive paste is applied to hold the electrodes in place. You will be asked to simply relax. You will not feel anything from the electrodes. MCN is safe for babies, pregnant women and the elderly. MCN has 5 protocol settings and numerous different sensitivity levels that Janelle and Regan will select, depending on how fragile or hardy one’s nervous system is (assessed prior to the treatment), as well as how one responds during or after the session, at which time adjustments may be made.

After your session:

You will be asked to provide feedback 24-48 hours after every session by email, using a digital ‘Observation/Feedback Form’. This is essential in helping Janelle and Regan to fine-tune your treatment in order to optimize results. Like most things in life, IASIS is a process that requires patience. Try to embrace the journey, suspending any disbelief, and give yourself permission to simply observe any subtle changes.

After a treatment, most people report that they feel relaxed, energetic, more focused, less stressed and that they slept well. On occasion after a treatment, the nervous system may react and feelings of fatigue, spaciness, anxiousness, being wired, or a headache may occur. All responses are completely normal and a sign that one is neuroregulating. Even unpleasant reactions are a positive sign that your brain and nervous system are responding. Even though it may be temporarily uncomfortable, it will not persist and will be followed by improvement. It is crucial to remember that every subset of a reaction is a positive response.

Initially, it is recommended to have 1-3 treatments per week, depending on the level of seriousness or acuity of your condition(s). As symptoms improve and results last longer, it will be possible to increase the time between treatments until they become enduringly sustainable.

The total number of treatments varies from person to person but typically 10 to 20 treatments are necessary. More may be necessary for those experiencing complex, longer standing conditions.

Did you know?

IASIS MCN is a powerful tool that focuses on the disrupted neural pathways in the brain. By promoting a healthy brain through this technology, our patients can enhance any current therapies they may already be involved in. (For a better understanding check out our BSP/counseling page LINK)
